Aesthetics is one of the most heavily marketed industries in local business, and one of the worst served by its own marketing vendors. Owners get pitched retainers by people who have never had a Meta ad account restricted for a before and after photo, never watched a Google Ads campaign disapproved over the word Botox, and never had to explain to an injector why the consult calendar is full and the treatment calendar is not.

This site is written for the owner side of that. Every guide here gives you the whole method, including the parts a vendor would normally hold back. If you would rather have it run for you, pick a service and we run it for 14 days at no charge. No card, no contract.

What is on the site

The benchmark report is built from 53,312 public Google Business Profile listings for med spas and aesthetic clinics across 51 states. The median clinic has 50 reviews. 45.1% sit at a perfect 5.0, which is exactly why a 5.0 no longer sells anything on its own. Use the report to place your clinic before you spend another dollar on ads.

The guides cover what actually moves treatment revenue: review velocity when HIPAA limits what you can say back, Instagram creative that survives Meta's cosmetic procedure rules, Google Ads that do not get flagged on prescription drug names, memberships and packages, and the consult-to-treatment conversation that decides your whole month.

The calculator takes your average treatment value and call volume and shows what unanswered calls cost you. In a business with a high lifetime value per client, that number is usually larger than an owner expects.

Who writes this

Steve Meitler edits the site. He has run growth campaigns for local service businesses for years, med spas among them, and builds the benchmark dataset himself from public listings. More on the about page.

Field guides for med spas

Hiring a marketing agency for a med spa, or doing it yourself

What a fair price is, the red flags specific to aesthetics, what to keep in your own name, when in-house makes sense, and why a trial beats a contract.

2

The med spa calendar: laser season, the summer dip, and a plan for the slow weeks

How aesthetic demand actually moves through the year, what to promote in each window, budget shifts by month, and the two dips every clinic can plan around.

3

Med spa pricing, packages and memberships that actually hold up

Per-unit versus per-area pricing, good-better-best treatment plans, deposits, membership tiers that flatten slow months, and how pricing decides your ad math.

4

What a missed call costs a med spa, and the follow-up that fixes it

Speed to lead in aesthetics, missed-call text-back, the five-minute rule, consult no-show recovery, and the scripts a front desk can run without extra staff.

5

The seven things a med spa website has to do

Online booking, treatment pages that price and reassure, medical director credibility, speed on a phone, and the consult form that fills the treatment calendar.

Questions

Common questions

How many Google reviews does a med spa need?

More than the three clinics you appear next to on a phone. Across 53,312 listings the median is 50 reviews and 34.3% sit under 25. In a competitive metro the clinics holding the map pack are usually past 100, which only 33.6% of med spas have reached. A realistic target is one new review for every four completed treatments, asked for at checkout. The reviews guide has the scripts.

Why does Meta keep rejecting my before and after photos?

Because Meta's advertising policy restricts cosmetic procedure and body-image content, and side-by-side before and after imagery is the clearest trigger in the whole rulebook. It is not a glitch and appealing rarely fixes it. The workable path is single-frame result photos in a natural setting, client testimonial video with no split screen, injector-on-camera education, and offer creative that never zooms in on the treated area. Details in the Meta and Instagram ads guide.

Can I run Google Ads on Botox and filler brand names?

You can bid on them in most cases, but Google's healthcare and medicines policy restricts how prescription drug terms are used in ad text and landing pages, and certification requirements vary by country and by product. The safe structure is to bid on the branded search terms, write ad copy about the treatment category and the consult rather than the drug, and keep dosing, pricing per unit and medical claims off the landing page. See the Google Ads guide.

How do I reply to reviews without a HIPAA problem?

Never confirm that the person was a patient, never name a treatment, never reference anything in their chart. That rules out most of the friendly replies clinics want to write. A compliant reply reads: "Thank you for the kind words. Our team appreciates it." For a negative review: "We take this seriously and would like to speak with you directly. Please call the clinic and ask for the manager." Then move the conversation off the platform. Confirm your policy with your own counsel.
